Before you get started, do prepare a screwdriver or a cordless electric screwdriver and a shear cutter or cutter plier for this installation.
Firstly, turn off your circuit breaker before you dismantle your current switch socket.
There are different colours to the wires in Singapore. You can refer to the following to understand which is Live, neutral and earth wires. Match them accordingly to the letters shown on the switch socket.
New wires:
Brown – Live
Green & Yellow – Earth
Blue – Neutral
Old wires:
Red – Live
Green – Earth
Black – Neutral
If you have holes in your wall due to your previous switch socket removal, you can try applying plaster over it and even out the plaster to blend with the wall.
What if your wall isn’t white? No worries about it. You can always paint it over with your current wall paint after the plaster has dried.
